Arrol and Snell’s first of eight projects for the James the Second retail chain was based in Shrewsbury. Sensitive frame repairs were carried out to reinstate the buildings original double bay frontage. The reinstatement of the original design has created an iconic building within Shrewsbury town centre. Initially, the retail unit was confined to the ground floor, although a number of small projects have created retail on the first floor, office space on the second floor and dry storage in the cellar.
As part of the business expansion program Arrol and Snell project managed shop fits in shopping centres all over the country, including a unit at Manchester airport. The detail design by Arrol and Snell allowed the continuity of the brand that was sensitive to the company’s ethos and approach. This included careful shop unit and lighting design in order to display products to the maximum effect. A fast track approach to design, procurement and fit out was required in order to take advantage of the clients rent free period.
