Sascott Farm

Sascott Farm barn is a classic 19th C Victorian shippon, or cow barn, retaining all the trademarks of a high quality Victorian Estate farm building but lacking in a purpose for the present.

After a successful outcome with planning, attention was focussed on proposing a thorough repair and conversion of the building to form a family home that would still bear all the trademarks of a simple, agricultural building, and would embrace its setting in the open countryside with minimal impact.

This was even extended to its green credentials, which by means of high levels of thermal insulation, photovoltaic panels and a bore hole ground source heat system – means that Sascott Farm barn is a highly sustainable conservation project re-using a historic building; a difficult balance to achieve.

Throughout the interior, high quality materials that are local and relevant to the buildings origins are being used such as Grinshill stone, welsh slate and local timber for the weatherboarding and joinery.
