Mosers Hall

The practice was commissioned to carry out a Feasibility Study in order to address means of escape and circulation issues within quite a complicated building on various levels, and also generally improve the boarding accommodation and facilities.

A link corridor was provided at roof level in order to connect the two sections of the boarding house and a new staircase tower was introduced in order to not only improve circulation but create a secondary means of escape.  This enabled the rather ugly external fire escape stairs to the rear of the property to be removed.  Also, later single storey buildings were cleared away in order to create courtyard amenity space and a new access stair was provided.

The project was completed in phases in order to minimise disruption to the School year and was finally completed in 2016 over the summer holiday and opened in time for the Autumn Term year as a girl’s boarding house.  The project budget of £ 1.4M was achieved.
